On Wednesdays after school we go the Mariners Church cafe to finish up the boys' homework before we pick up Sarah. (Wednesday is early out). After they finished they were having fun on the big pirate ship slide at the Sunday school playground. I caught this picture at the top.

Andrew said he had a fun day. His favorite part of the day was getting a root beer after he finished his homework. Andrew had a great time today.

Owen's favorite part of the day was when coach Dave called him Kobe during PE. When Owen was at school, during recess he made two 3-pointers in basketball.

Happy Boy!!

Yes, Owen had a great time at the Laker game! He and Eric had great seats, 10 rows back from the court. He could see everything. He made friends in the section and his neighbors (including a cute 7 year old girl) gave him cotton candy and popcorn.

Owen said he thought the Lakers would lose but they won! Streamers came down at the buzzer and Owen snatched some up and brought them home.

Owen's favorite part was watching all of the three-pointers and dunks.

This was a special night, I hope these memories last for him!!

Someone's going to the Laker game tonight! He doesn't know it yet - I can't wait to see him when he finds out! Eric may have just become the favorite parent.

Can I just do it for him?

Andrew brought home his first book report assignment today and I'm already stressed!  Not really, but I am already planning out his research schedule and cover design.  This will be Andrew's work but I know getting this done is going to take some teamwork.   I am going to have to fight, fight the urge to jump in and 'help' too much.

Here are my daily shots for the week!

Post 602

Ah Saturday.  I slept in till about 8:45 this morning.  I think the last time I did that I had 3 fewer children and 100 fewer grey hairs.  It was just what the doctor ordered; that and a shot of NyQuil. I swear that stuff does the trick every time.  I feel much better today.

It was raining all day today, a perfect day for low expectations.  The boys went to a birthday party and Eric, Sarah and I drove around and did our weekend errands.  We stopped at our favorite coffee spot Kean Coffee along the way.  My Instagram feed told me that there's a super hipster awesome donut truck there on Saturdays. We'll add that to our weekend food rotation for sure.



After the party we came home and I took a few shots around the neighborhood.  My favorites are up on Flickr.  We are becoming basketball game watchers (I won't say 'fans' just yet), and are enjoying a Clipper game tonight.  Usually our little basketball junkie is watching with us, but he's upstairs playing a new NBA Xbox game instead.  Eric has tickets to take clients to a Lakers game on Saturday.  He's trying to get an extra one for Owen.  If he does, I'm pretty sure Owen's head will explode with excitement.



Looking forward to feeling better tomorrow and a week of everyone back at school.

Just making it through today

It was such a good week, mostly.  It was fun having various kids home with me this week.  It was fun to stay home read books, snooze and watch TV.  Being home is great when I feel good and I get to play hookie from my various drop-off and volunteer commitments and stay home and take care of mah babies.  But it's another thing altogether when I feel rotten and the kids are now feeling better and super high energy and are expecting a certain level of service from their mom.  I felt so tired today I had to call off our usual weekly Target run.  It's a fun errand Owen and I do together when the others are at school - he cried when I said we weren't going.  Then I felt so sad that I was making him sad. (I'm such a sap.)

But things are looking up.   Eric is home, upstairs with the kids and I'm typing away watching last week's Downton Abbey.  I'll say it, thank goodness it's Friday!

Obsessed

Andrew and Sarah were home sick from school today, and I think I'm going down too. My nose is so stuffed up. We've had four days of illness. I'm sure Eric had no problem being gone this week! Poor Owen wanted to play basketball (and just be outside) so bad, I let him out amid our backyard construction. He didn't care, he played out there for an hour.

It was rainy today, so our backyard patio concrete will be poured on Monday instead of this week. I'll be so happy when there's a lot less dirt around here. With the backyard coming along, and our interior wall painting just about done, the house is starting to look a little more put together. It's so fun to do stuff to the house, I just wish it all wasn't so damn expensive!

Since we were home all day again today, I got a jump start on the boys' birthday party planning. Andrew is going bounce house, and Owen is having a basketball party (surprise!), dates are confirmed and locations are secured.

I'm crossing my fingers that everyone will be back at school tomorrow and I'll be able to go to spin, I miss it!

Sick Day

Andrew's going on day three of a bad cold/flu.  He's been fever-y so we've taken it really easy the last few days.   It's hard for the Owen and Sarah to be cooped up too, but we're making the best of it.  I've been getting desperate creative around here keeping them entertained while Andrew rests.  

Jumping on the bed?  Sure!  We've got to burn off that energy somehow!

Dream catcher

Andrew's been having bad dreams the last few weeks.  I asked him what would make him feel better and what might help.  He suggested a dreamcatcher.  Which was a totally awesome answer that I had not thought of at all!  We called grandma Peters in New Mexico and a few days later his dreamcatcher arrived.  We say a quick prayer before bed to "activate" it:  Dear God, please make the dreamcatcher work, Amen. So far it's working and he's been sleeping through the night.

365 Round Up

Busy, busy weekend here!  On Saturday Owen went to a birthday party, and our friend Brian turned 40 and celebrated with dinner out in LA.  Today we went to Eric's annual work party in the valley super fun, but a three hour round trip! So, I miss blogging yesterday and taking pictures today.  But tomorrow is another day to get back on track.  Here are my favorites from the week (plus a cheater pic from last week).















I try to take equal pictures of all the kids, but Sarah is the most cooperative these days.

Owen had some tummy troubles today and didn't make it to school. He felt much better by Andrew's pick up time. Phew. It does not bode well for a good day when you contemplate Googling: "children's Immodium dosage".

Tuesday

When the boys are at Taekwondo on Tuesdays Sarah and I get the dry cleaning done.  The dry cleaners is right next door to our favorite donut shop Mags Donuts.   Of course Sarah wanted a donut and being the mom that I am I obliged her knowing full well I was killing her appetite for dinner.  I can't help it.  I want to fill her head with as many sweet memories of childhood as humanly possible.



I know how fast this time will fly.

2013 Check in

How are we doing on those resolutions?

Spin 3X per week -  Going great.  I did have to skip a class because of crowding, but I went to the gym instead so I'm totally counting that.

Complete 365 photo project - so far so good! Having a fun time with this one.

Enter 5 photo contests - Clickin' Moms, my favorite photography site, is having a contest with the theme of Love for February.  Totally entering that one.

Read 50 books - I spent a week picking out 50 books for the year.  You can now see my To-Read list in the side bar.  Maybe one will pique your interest?

Blog every day - so far so good.  This is one I'm a little nervous about, but if I count posting a photo, I'm good.

Watch 25 classic movies - This one Eric and I are doing together.  So far we've watched Casablanca and have a few Hitchcock movies in our queue. 

Host a dinner party - Working on the guest list!


Trips to Hawaii and Washington - Must get going on these - summer comes fast!

Make 5 photo albums - Not started, not surprised.

Learn enough French to get around France for a future family trip - Decided to remove this one.  I think we'll join a tour and not have to sweat the details.

Sell 1 photo - This is totally exciting, but I have no idea yet what this is going to look like.  So still forming this one.

We had super fun day ending in having one of our favorite families over for dinner.  Just one more reason I love the new house - space for company!
