Reason enough for me

to have a third baby:

Ann Talyor Loft now has maternity clothes.

Owen is 3 months old

Owen is three months old today! He is a happy and smiley baby. He really just gives those smiles away. All you need to do is look him in the eye then smile and he gives it right back to you!


Owen is a lot like Andrew was at this age; a good sleeper, happy disposition, but he's different in a couple of ways. First, Owen is a thumb sucker! We never saw Andrew suck his thumb - I think his passie addiction started before he even noticed he had hands. Once Owen finds his hand then roots around a bit for his thumb, he'll just work away on it for a long time. Owen still just spits out passies - I'm glad he found a good substitute.



Owen has also had a hard time with the bottle;this is something that Andrew didn't have a problem with. We started bottle boot camp last night and it didn't go well, but this morning we had some success. Owen drank 4 oz. of formula without much difficulty. We need to get him really comfortable with the bottles before he starts daycare on Monday.

Owen is a talker too. He makes lots of long sounds and you can have a baby conversation with him. He'll make a sound then pause waiting for you to make a sound, then you do, then he gets really smiley and makes more sounds. I could talk with him for hours.

Owen likes to hang out with his dad and brother too. Andrew is really waking up to having Owen around. He likes to pat his head and talk about him. Here they all are at our picnic with Grandma on Sunday.

Owen is still growing at quite a clip. He's now into 9 month outfits and I think he'll be into number three diapers in the next couple of weeks.

This is our last week as a twosome; just me and Owen. I know he will do well at Kindercare. He's going to have great teachers that are very loving. Next week is going to be much harder on mama than baby - sniff.

Andrew made it into Advanced swimming lessons on Saturday!

Andrew 27 Months

For those ofwho haven't stopped by lately, you might be interested to know how Andrew is doing. He's now fabulously 2.25 years old - developing his personality, beginning to make his own decisions (lot's of "No!'s") and starting to express himself a few new phrases:

• "Wass sappening?" - he says this when something a rough happens on T.V. like when the sharks show up in Nemo.


• "You O.K.?" - he says this after you have muffled a curse after tripping on one of his big trucks.


• "Help you" - a.k.a can you come over here and do something for me?


• "Better?" - he says this after you give him kisses on a boo-boo.


• "Blue passie"


• "Yellow passie"


• "Baby passie" - these phrases are pretty self explanatory.


• "Hold on Owen" - whenever Owen's crying in the back seat and we're not quite home yet

Perhaps the most touching speech development is that Andrew has learned to sing Happy Birthday and sang it to his dad on his birthday. I think that was the best gift Eric got :).

Along with figuring out new words, letters and animals, Andrew loves Thomas trains more than ever and loves them almost as much as he loves waffles with syrup. (Don't ever forget the syrup!). Doing things "by myself" is very important. He wants to climb into his car seat by himself, climb onto his booster seat; just about anything is better "by myself".

He's also able to talk about more abstract things instead of just what's here and now. You can talk to him about his day and he will tell you who he played with and what he did. He remembers lots of things. He is still talking about picking strawberries with Grammy K, soccer with Daddy and sharks on the roof. (Our neighbor had an inflatable shark in her roof for a couple of days and Andrew is still talking about it and looking for it.)

Emotionally Andrew is a bit more intense. He's having a harder time lately with the drop off in the mornings at school. I think this will get better when both he AND Owen are dropped off together. Its got to be hard when you know your little brother is going home to hang out with mom all day. Andrew becomes upset when things don't go as he planned. We've learned that his tantrum intensity is inversely related to the length of his nap: Big nap little tantrum, little nap BIG tantrum.

He is the kind of toddler though that we can take to most places and know that his going to behave like a pretty great little kid. He is a very sweet little boy and is still very kissable and huggable. I hope he stays that way forever.

Andrew's Vacation Photos

We had a great road trip vacation last week. We drove from Irvine to Sacramento via Campbell with a stop in Santa Cruz on the way home. We loaded up the minivan with everything we could possibly need for an 1000 mile round trip with a toddler and a baby:the portable DVD player. Here's Andrew watching Finding Nemo for the 7 millionth time (we hadn't even gotten out of L.A. yet!):


Just because we are on vacation we don't slack on the swimming lessons. Here Dad and Andrew are practicing at the pool at the Lighthouse Hotel in Pismo Beach:
