Andrew 35 Months

Andrew 35 Months, originally uploaded by leslie_capron.

Andrew is almost 3 years old! Whew, where did the time go? This is just a quick monthly update (its way past my bedtime).

If you didn't guess from the underpants entry, Andrew has mastered going pee-pee in the potty (except when he peed in the van on Sunday, but that totally wasn't his fault, Eric took him to the bathroom earlier when we were out to breakfast and it had only been about 45 minutes since they went, so I was a bit surprised, it turns out that Andrew didn't actually go to the bathroom, so I hadn't asked him again if he had to go until he was watering his shoes in the back of the van.) But that was just a minor bump in an otherwise stellar streak of going to the bathroom. We're still working on "number 2", but I'm confident that he'll master that soon too.

Speaking of streaking... sometimes when Andrew hasn't napped he gets super hyper and silly and starts running around. In Target on Sunday we were trying on some goulashes and had his shoes off, we found a pair that fit, but before I knew it Andrew had taken off running without his shoes on, I caught up to him and found him taking his pants off in the men's clothing section, as soon as I was about two feet away from him he took off running down one of the big aisles sans pants. This was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

Andrew is talking up a storm. Just tonight he said his milk was "delicious". He's also started telling Eric and Me "good job" when we do things. Like I'll poor him some milk and he'll say "good job mom". Maybe we are over-doing it a bit on the praise around here (not that I don't appreciate it!). Andrew's also started to give us the "thumbs up".

Andrew is still taking three hour naps. I have recently read that at this age napping is on the wane. Not for Andrew and I am totally ok with that. Napping is good!

Andrew is also showing a surprising memory. He'll recall people and events that happened months ago and ask about them.

Andrew's been behaving pretty well, we have a few tantrums a week, and he's not cool with Owen touching his stuff, but really, he's pretty awesome and fun to have around.

Owen 11 Months

, originally uploaded by leslie_capron.

Here's Owen eating oranges with dad. He's a fruit lover like his brother. Bananas, strawberries and blackberries are in regular rotation for dinner. Owen is still on formula, but other than that he's eating table food. This week we added ravioli - he loved it. He's feeding himself with his bottle, but tonight he kept going for Andrew's sippy cup so I gave him one. He drank from it with no problem.

Owen is Mr. Active. He is non-stop movement and at school he's the most active baby (and biggest) in the room. Owen really likes to play and investigate whatever Andrew is doing, but unfortunately Andrew is rarely cooperative. He's tough though and keeps coming back to Andrew even when he's being rough. Yesterday we had to separate the boys because Andrew was just not capable of playing nicely and Owen got one head bonk too many. It seems like daily I am pointing out a new scrape or bruise to his teachers so they know that he came to school that way. Not all of the bumps are from Andrew, Owen is just very physical and not too coordinated yet!

This week he's started to crawl on his hands and feet - he looks just like the little boy in The Jungle Book. He can cruise upright very well and almost took a step this weekend, so walking is coming soon.

He's babbling a lot and loves to go "thbbbbbt". He is still sleeping very well and goes down like a dream. He is still consistently sleeping from 8 pm to 6 am.

His personality is sweet and curious. He's a handful, but theres never a dull moment around here!

For the past two weeks Andrew has gone pee-pee IN the potty. He may just have this ALL figured out by his birthday!

Owen helps with the dishes

Owen helps with the dishes, originally uploaded by leslie_capron.

Since Eric's not here many nights, I've got the boys doing more around the house.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

It's been over a week since my last post!

I've missed you! Its 9:30 on Tuesday night and I am ready for bed; the boys are asleep, the dishes are done and the coffee's ready for tomorrow. Eric's in San Francisco again this week, but things here are plugging along so well that I find myself looking for things to get worried about. Like tonight. Owen was getting sleepy so I thought I would put him down a little early (around 7:45) and figured I'd let him do his crying thing and get it out of the way before I put Andrew to bed. So I take a sleepy Owen upstairs and put him in his crib and start to walk away knowing the screaming is about to start. But instead of the sad wailing I usually hear, he was just quiet. He didn't even make a peep. I walked back over to the crib to check on him and he looked up at me like "hmm, you still here?" and rolled right over. So, I immediately called Eric and said I think somethings wrong with Owen, he went to bed without any crying or fuss. Eric was really nice about this and humored me for a moment and said, "maybe he's coming down with something and isn't quite himself or maybe he didn't take a long nap today". Then I started realizing that maybe Owen is just sleepy and that's it. He is almost a year old and should be going to bed with little difficulty. Somehow I forgot that our other baby was going down in his own crib at two months. It's really ok if he's not crying!

Anyhoo, we had a fun weekend filled with play-dates, parks and going to the beach. I uploaded the 10 photos I liked OUT OF THE 389 PICTURES I TOOK. This photography thing is hard!

Rainy Sunday

Eric's travel schedule is really cutting into my blogging time (and um, for some reason Blogger seems now to be blocked by my office's firewall). I wish I was able to update more often these days but during the week once the boys go to bed, I'm not far behind them.

We woke up today to some serious rain. It felt like a good morning to go get some donuts. We packed up the van and headed down to Dana Point to our old haunt Dana Point Donut Shop. Andrew went for a sprinkle one, Owen got an old fashioned glazed, Eric got the custard filled chocolate glaze and I went for the apple fritter. Yummy.

Here's Andrew demonstrating the proper way to eat a donut: lick the glaze and sprinkles off first. (Actually that's about all Andrew did with his donut, he followed up the sugar with some bagel).

Owen LOVED his donut

A nice guy took a photo of all of us

Dana Point is a great beach town, the donut shop was full of families and kids and half the kids were still in their pajamas. There is less of the OC's "keeping up with the Jones" down there. It's a possible next stop for us.
