I want to touch that bright flickering thingy

Owen had his own cupcake extravaganza this week. Here he is with his very first cupcake. He did a fine job with it. Kindercare doesn't encourage cupcakes in the baby room, so he'll have his classroom party next year. As soon as I have a few photos, I'll post the birthday party breakdown. Much fun was had by the boys.

Andrew's Three!

This was Andrew yesterday afternoon. Fever-y and subdued. We were all ready for a fun little party in his classroom: the goodie bags were packed and the green cupcakes were chilling in the fridge. But from one look at him it was clear that he wasn't going to enjoy the party. We decided that it would be best if we postponed cupcake time.

By some St. Patrick's Day miracle, Andrew was feeling better right around cake time last night.

Today we had the party. The frosting was clearly the best part. More party here.

Just My Luck

Of course Owen's going to take his first steps while I'm as far away from home that you can get on this planet. At least we have blogs so I know about it.

Anyway, just figured out Singapore shopping. Picture a Southern California shopping mall crossed with the size of Las Vegas and crowds from Disneyland.

My head is spinning a bit. Don't think I've ever seen a queue 30 people deep at night for Starbucks, Gloria Jean Coffee, Subway, and Burger King. Decided to divert back to the hawker markets for a more laid back meal of green curry, rice and a mango salad so spicy I don't think I can finish it.

Nice finale to my short trip and sucessful meeting. I'm back on the plane tomorrow (Friday) and, thanks to my handy 'flux capacitor' I'll be back in LA first thing Friday morning.

Metro Madness

Just tried to stuff myself into a subway in Singapore. Wasn't aggressive enough and didn't make it. Will try again shortly. Souvenirs depend on me figuring this out.

Anyway, not sure if this is politicallly correct or not but I think I'm about 10 years older than everyone in the train station. I've never seen so many youthful working stiffs. Where are all of the old people? I'll defer to my sociologist father to explain why that's the case.

Cheers!

Eric

Owen eating his favorite treat

Here's Owen eating popcorn. He is crazy about popcorn. BUT that's not why I'm posting, the reason is:

OWEN TOOK TWO STEPS TONIGHT!

I don't have photographic evidence because it happened so fast, but it was an undeniable full stand then two steps.

I found out this week that he'll be moving up to the toddler room around the third week of April. Just in time, I think he's ready for days spending time exploring outside.

We survived

Andrew likes climbing trees, originally uploaded by leslie_capron.

We survived the weekend on our own. We had a really fun time. We spent a lot of time going to the park and playing. The weather was so beautiful that we couldn't stay inside. I took some pictures and I'll update Flickr with more.

The most exciting thing this weekend? Andrew didn't nap once. My solution? Keep moving.

What happened to Sunday?

Got on a plane Saturday morning and 20+ hours later I'm launching into my first set of meetings in Singapore. Travel not as bad as I feared - just stayed up most the trip, arrived late at night, slept and now feeling pretty acclimated.

Pretty nice place from what I've from the airport to the hotel. Will keep everyone posted as I figure things out.

Priority number one, after getting through my clients? Finding Leslie and the boys something cool to bring back. Suggestions welcomed.
