Milestone

Yesterday was HUGE at the Capron house. Andrew started Kindergarten! OMG the excitement was sky high around here. Mostly mine, and the family, Andrew was pretty calm about it.

Vista Verde Elementary does the first day of school a little differently than I remember. There's no dropping your baby off at the curb with a wave. I got to go with Andrew to class and stay. It was a really short day, just an hour and a half.

Mrs. Anderson (Andrew's teacher) spoke to the parents about the kids' daily schedule, homework, daily penny jar, share days, snack (no nut products), volunteering, pick up/drop off procedures (do NOT get this wrong), short days (every Wednesday), sneaker days (every Wednesday), picture day, parent/teacher conferences, no cupcakes for birthdays, cooking class, label everything...phew! I had to take notes! The kids went off in another room for an activity.

Before we knew it it was all over and time for lunch.

Andrew is so ready for Kindergarten. I know he's going to thrive this year.

So grown up? I bet Owen will be lonely without him around.

So exciting!!!
And my goodness - you need a whole planner just to keep track of everything you're in charge of as a parent!!!
What's the penny jar for? From my experience, aren't you supposed to drop some money in a jar each time you use unsavory language... must not be the same thing in Kindergarten - :) ha!

Jeanie - Owen is doing fine with some mommy time. Also Andrew is done at 11:30!

Jodi - So much to keep track of! LOL about the penny jar. We're supposed to drop a penny in the jar every day Andrew goes to school, then when we reach 100 he takes the jar to school to count all the pennies. It's part of their math lesson.

Don't get me started on the "sharebox" we need to create and decorate for share days!

You do look like a school boy, Andrew. Always pack your backpack at night so you will be ready to go in the morning. I like AM kindergarten too. I hope Owen gets AM too. The excitement keeps going on even after vacation. Love, Grandma Peters.
